Current veterinary students are future ABVP Diplomates

Students

ABVP understands that current veterinary students are future ABVP Diplomates and the future of the veterinary profession.  This is why our Diplomates offer externships to students interested in gaining real-world veterinary experience.

Students interested in becoming ABVP Diplomates are also encouraged to join a study group.  These groups inform students on the steps necessary to become board certified and connect them with practicing veterinarians across the world.

Residents

The residency program was established to provide an alternative path to fulfilling the requirements necessary to seek board certification.  Its objective is to promote expertise and proficiency in species-specialty veterinary medicine by providing instruction and guidance through a structured program.  Currently, there are over 50 approved residency programs throughout the United States and Canada.

For more information on the ABVP residency program, please visit the Residency Program and read the Residency Program Guide.
