Examination for Recertification
Recertification by Specialty Examination
Guidelines: To be administered in Chicago for all categories except for Swine Health Management. Examination is worth 500 credits.
- In order to recertify by examination, Diplomates are required to pass both sections of the written Specialty Examination in their practice category.
- Each Diplomate may have up to three attempts to pass the Specialty Examination as long as the requirements are met in the 8th , 9th or 10th year of the certification period.
- The recertification examination is given concurrently with, and is the same as, the Specialty exam administered to candidates attempting initial certification. Successful examination will extend certification by 10 years beyond the original expiration date. Notification of the Diplomates intent to take the recertification examination, along with the fee, must be received in the ABVP office by August 1.
- Examinations for recertification are traditionally administered in Chicago during November, except for those in Swine Health Management.
