Virginia-Maryland CVM Full-Time Community Practice Faculty Position

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences (DSACS) of the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time faculty position in Community Practice at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The successful candidate will join 2 other board certified specialists, 1 American Board of Veterinary Practitioners (ABVP) resident in training, and 4 veterinary technical staff in the dynamic, full spectrum Community Practice service.  Specialty board certification by ABVP or ACVIM is strongly preferred, but board-eligible candidates will also be considered.  Responsibilities will include clinical instruction of professional students, interns, and residents in the Veterinary Teaching Hospital and didactic and laboratory instruction to students in the professional curriculum.  There will be an expectation of dedication toward teaching. Service duties will include management of patients and clients in the Community Practice section of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital with an emphasis on preventive health care and routine medical, surgical and dental procedures. The applicant must be committed to excellent patient management and client service.  The successful candidate will also be expected to participate in continuing education programs of the College and participation in faculty governance activities. Creative scholarship contributions are expected and will commensurate with faculty assignment.  Interest and participation in the College’s Center for Animal and Human Relationships (CENTAUR), which promotes human animal bond interactions and applications, is highly desirable.  Approximately 75% of effort will be in clinical instruction and service with the remaining efforts in didactic instruction, governance activities, scholarship and professional development.
